Care for the grip
Most grip socks do not wear out. They get washed wrong. Heat and softener are what kill silicone, so the routine below is short and worth it.
The routine
- Turn them inside out. It protects the silicone and lets the knit release sweat.
- Cold wash, gentle cycle, in a mesh bag.
- Air dry, flat or hung. Skip the dryer entirely.
- No bleach, no fabric softener. Softener coats silicone and dulls the grip.
Why it matters
Silicone grip fails from heat and coating, not from use. Dryer heat hardens and cracks it; softener films it over until it slides. Washed cold and air dried, our grip has held through more than 80 studio sessions and counting.
Between classes
Let them air out before they go back in the bag. If class ran hot, a quick rinse and hang keeps the knit fresh.
When to replace
When the knit thins at the heel or the grip pattern wears smooth in your press zones. Care for them right and that is a long way off. If it happens sooner than it should, write to support@bodynam.com.
